Terrarium Making Party

How to Host a
 Modern Teen Terrarium Making Party!

Succulents..... they're all the rage!  At least that's what my teenage daughter tells me! LOL!
So I thought, what better theme for her fifteenth birthday than a Terrarium Making Party! My daughter thought it was a fabulous idea, and that's all I needed.
I have been wanting to do something with succulents for some time and now I had the perfect party to do it with.

Collaborating with Oriental Trading for this party was a must, as they have so many supplies that I needed to create the most adorable terrariums, plus many more wonderful products as well.

When choosing the color palette for this party, I knew I wanted to keep it modern and crisp but also encompass the essence of my daughter by using her favorite color purple throughout, along with various hues of green, whites and of course coppers and golds for some added sparkle and sophistication.
Designing the invitation and the printables was so much fun.  I really love how they all turned out. The whole invitation suite is available HERE at my Etsy shoppe.

But my favorite element of this party would definitely have to be the stunning balloon garland that framed out the dessert table.

I had been wanting to create a balloon garland for sometime and just needed the perfect party for it. I'm so glad I tried it! It turned out to be a lot easier than I had anticipated it would be. By adding a few tissue flowers to the garland,  it added a level of sophistication but still kept enough whimsy for a teenager to appreciate!

The dessert table was filled with gorgeous succulent inspired desserts from scrumptious mini chocolate cupcakes to beautifully decorated sugar cookies.
The cake was certainly an eye catcher though, with its chocolatey layers peeking through the buttercream icing and finished with a decadent white chocolate lavender ganache dripping down the sides.
There were also beautifully decorated chocolate covered strawberries and individual  lavender cheesecakes finished with blackberries and a sprig of mint.

The tabletop was equally as impressive with a gorgeous floral arrangement as the centerpiece surrounded by darling geometric shaped terrariums all placed atop a modern white and green table runner.

Each place setting started with a simple square white plate layered with a darling leaf shaped plate and finally topped off with a white linen napkin, rolled and tied off with lavender twine and finished with a lovely place card for each guest.  The setting was flanked by matte gold silverware and the most fabulous purple mason jars for their beverage.  Above each place setting was an adorable succulent favor jar filled with delicious chocolate covered fruits for each guest to take home. I cannot have a party without a party favor! It's just such a nice way of saying "Thanks for coming".

We served the girls a wonderful lunch consisting of {all my daughter's favorite foods}, homemade French onion soup, Caesar salad, croissant sandwiches and lovely fruit cups.
Once lunch had finished, it was time to "Dig in and get their hands dirty"! The girls couldn't wait to create their very own little terrariums.
Each girl got a box containing a darling hanging glass terrarium globe with a little card diagramming the process.

All the ingredients were neatly placed in the cutest little mini flowerpots with darling name tags identifying what each item was.

The girls had so much fun getting a little dirty creating the sweetest little succulent terrariums!

This was definitely the perfect party for a fifteenth birthday but can certainly be the perfect theme for a tween birthday, a baby shower or even a lovely ladies luncheon, because after all, succulents ARE all the rage!

I hope you were able to find tons of wonderful inspiration to use for your next party or event!
Thanks for visiting!
